With the exception of a few true lovers of cats, Americans have always been less particular about the origins of their cats and their dogs. Cats are most commonly seen on farms and they worked to help keep the vermin population. Interestingly, this genetic mutation did not appear anywhere in the world other than the United States. The American Wirehair is docile and calm temperament and a great pet for a so-called "couch-potato."
